I have been studying Vietnamese for about 3 years now, so I would think my level is intermediate at the highest. I am studying Vietnamese because I am married to a Vietnamese woman from Hanoi and that I will need to work in Vietnam in the future. That is the primary reason I am learning, and I feel that I my learning has leveled off and I am in need of somebody that is a teacher as well as a native speaker. I am fairly confident in my grammar, but my conversationa l ability needs to be improved as does my listening.
The qualities I am looking for in a teacher are a strong desire to help me communicate more in Vietnamese rather than English during lessons, a clear Northern accent, and patience.
I am willing to devote any amount of time necessary each lesson, but it seems that between 1 and 2 hours would be best.

I am vietnamese decent and looking for a teacher in tampa. I am a beginner/inte rmediate although I am starting to study on my own right now. Looking to be able to speak my own language again. The qualities I am looking for in a teacher are that they are of the same decent to be able to teach about the culture and every aspect of the language with proficiency.

I speak no Vietnamese at all. My brother is marrying a Vietnamese woman next summer. She speaks English, but most of her family does not, so I'd like to learn some basic conversationa l Vietnamese by next June. I speak French and have studied several other European languages, but no Asian languages. An in-person class or tutor would be best, but I'd also try an online course, as long as I'd get some kind of feedback about my pronunciation and intonation.
