Dear Sir/Madam,
my name is Alexandra Tsakona and I wish to learn Finnish.
There are various reasons for my wishing to learn Finnish:
- Because I like its sound
- Because ... it is a different kind of language
- Because I like learning foreign languages and have not done so for a few years
Thus, my wish to learn this language is more of a 'communicativ e' character. It has nothing to do with work or anything of the kind.
As I am an absolute beginner, all the areas (grammar, conversation, etc.) would need to be taken into consideration .
Concernin g the time I want to dedicate to the language lessons: If my everyday activities allowed it, I would like to spend as much time as possible. But this is a very vague thing to say. I would definitely like to spend 2-3 days per week of, perhaps up to two hours (?) per day with the teacher. But, I believe that this point cannot be answered like this. Surely, it is important to see how much time the teacher can afford, too. This is a point which, so I believe, cannot be replied without previous talk with the teacher. I just know that I would like to learn Finnish.
Concernin g the qualities I am looking for in the lessons and the teacher: I am not sure that I do understand this question. Generally speaking, as learning Finnish, for me, has 'communicativ e' reasons behind it, I would like to learn the language in a very active way, i.e. not to learn a particular kind of vocabulary (i.e. something one learns for his/her job) or 'simply' the proper grammar, but I would like to be able to communicate in Finnish.

I have been learning French since I was about 9 or 10. I love the language and I thoroughly enjoy learning. That is why I would really love to continue learning and expanding my knowledge of the french language after finishing high school. I feel what lets me down in my French skills is my grammar, for years, I've struggled grasping the grammer and the verb tenses, and it's time I got stuck into learning them and perfecting everything else I've learnt.
I am interested in learning Finnish as well as I have always wanted to learn more than one language and for a complete contrast, I feel Finnish could provide some challenging fun. I have never learnt it before and therefore, know absolutely nothing about it.
I would like to spend as much time as possible learning both these languages and improving my conversationa l and grammatical skills in both languages.
I would like a teacher who is very understanding , but also someone who is succint and strict as I feel I need discipline to keep me on the right track to fulfill my goals.

hi, i am smithy lord by name presently in Nigeria and a beginner. i want to learn Finnish language due to the fact that i was admitted to one of the university in Finland and i will like to get myself adapted to the environment beforehand. Learning the language will be more useful in job opportunity out there, so i believe i need it for both status of study and conversing.
I need a dynamic teacher that can teach accurately and make things happen in few weeks or in two months time. English language proficiency of the teacher will be more important and if i can get the audio CD for listening also.

I am wanting to Learn Finnish as I am hoping to move to Finland once I have completed school I have always wanted to travel and learn new languages, Finland is a country that just fascinated me so I have made it my goal to learn the language and move there once completing school. I do not know any Finnish I am hoping to learn as much as I can in grammar and in conversation, and hopefully know the language fluently. I am looking for a 30min- 1 hour lessons, most likely 1hour. I am wanting a teacher is patient and wiling to listen to my questions, but who also knows how to have a bit of fun along the way. I am a dedicated quick learner and should pick up the language quite easily.
