Description |
To whoever this may concern, I have recently moved to Kenya for work and would like to learn Kiswahili so as to be able to communicate better with the people around. I am a beginner, although I have some limited vocabulary that I picked up during my previous visits to the country. The main area that I am interested in focussing on is conversation but in order to do this I understand that I will still need to make sure I know some basic grammar and to be able to read and write a bit. I am a documentary filmmaker and as such may have to occasionally be elsewhere but generally I would be interested in doing about ten hours of lessons a week. In 2000 I undertook a TEFL course so am familiar with this style of teaching and would greatly prefer to use its approach, instead of having to memorise long lists of vocabulary and grammar rules. I do not know if this makes sense in Swahili. Apart from that I am just looking for a good teacher, preferably woman (I work in a male-dominate d environment so this is just for novelty-sake, I am fine with being taught by a man too if that's what's available). I would also be happy to combine one-to-one lessons with the occasional small class or something like that. I hope the information I have provided you is sufficient. Kind regards, Kat y

I am looking to have a career working international ly and I want to have a beginner-inte rmediate knowledge of several languages other than french and english. I would one day like to speak french fluently. I pick up languages quickly-I spent six months in Tanzania and was speaking semi-fluent in swahili. I would like to continue with those skills as well however I feel its more important to have fundamentals in a broader language. I have no experience in spanish or mandarin. I am most concerned about conversing in the languages and not as much in written however I would still like a bit of skill that way. I would like to do maybe two hours a week of in class and then study on my own. I am pretty easy going and I learn best through flash cards, repetition and practicing through conversing. Thanks so much!

I am looking for a Swahili teacher focusing on conversation and grammar. I have some basic Swahili knowledge but would like to improve quickly as I will need it for my career. I am experience at learning languages and want to spend 1-2 hours per week with a professional teacher who can give me assignments adressing my weaknesses to make quick progress.

Description |
My significant other is Kenyan and in an effort to become closer, be able to speak to her family in their language and the challenge, I am determined to become fluent in Swahili. I am a beginner and am starting from scratch. I have several books and CDs and study about two hours a day or more. I am open to any teacher in the DC area.

Description |
Hello!
I have been on a holiday in East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) for almost a month. As a result, I would like to become a member of an NGO setting up good projects for Tanzania.
For the moment, I cannot yet allow to leave Belgium and go to Tanzania as my son is still a student. But I could begin by working from here and start to learn the language.
I would like to do this with a local teacher if possible, since words and accents in Swaheli are not the same everywhere. My nationality is Dutch, but I speak French and English fluently.
Thanking you in advance for your answer and with my best regards,
K iek Berg
