I have a Chinese friend and wish to converse with her and her parents (when I meet them) in Mandarin.
I am a beginner.
Co nversation would be the main area of focus.
I would be looking at 2-4 hours per week face time with tutor.
Good practical teacher, I learn a lot better through practical methods, rather than reading books (although I do I understand that is part of the learning).

I would like to learn Mandarin, simply because I think it would be useful to know more than one language and I think Mandarin is a goo place to start.
As for my proficiency, I know about 4 Chinese words.
I would love to just be able to have a conversation in Mandarin, I'm not too stressed about the characters, although it would be helpful.
The time I dedicate to learning will most likely depend on the the cost of the lessons.
I just want a nice easy going and experienced teacher.
