I am a beginner in Japanese, and I want to learn to speak it because I plan on visiting Japan sometime in the near future. It is a requirement at my school that each student spend two weeks in a radically different environment in order to graduate, and since my interest in Japan is so huge, and I have been presented with an opportunity to go this summer, I want to learn the language. I would like to focus mainly on conversationa l Japanese, because I think it will be more important for me to be able to speak than read. This said, I know it is important to learn everything about the language and would like to learn how to read and write with correct grammar as well. I would dedicate at least one day a week to my lessons, maybe more, depending on what my parents say. (I am still only in highschool, and I have to depend on them for approval, and usually transportatio n.) The main things I'm looking for in a teacher are someone who is easy to understand and easy to work with.

I'm currently a student at ACC with the intent to transfer to UT. I am studing Spanish because I like it and I have always wanted to be bi-lingual. I have a fantasy of living in Spain one day. I have been studing Spanish for one year now, through an alternative Spanish class (Rapid Spanish) and now at ACC. I'm in Spanish 1. The problem with my current Spanish class is that we're not speaking in class. Which is just crazy to me. I don't understand how I'm supposed to learn a language doing workbook exercises. Not that they don't help, but it just seems that you need to do more. Half the class is completely confused and the teacher can't figure out why.
I would like to possibly do a couple of hours a week. I need help in all areas, but specificly hearing, understanding what I'm hearing and responding.
I want a teacher who knows their stuff. I had a tutor last year that when I would ask a question would always tell me it was too advanced for me. I found that completely frustrating. I want my questions answered. If I don't understand completely then I will work to get to the place where I understand. I want a teacher that actually w wants me to learn.

I will arrive in Mumbai from the United States about the end of October of this year. I have not studied Hindi, but since I will be travelling in India for a year, I would like to learn a language of your country. I hope to spend perhaps a month in each place I visit. I am retired and languages are a hobby. I would like to begin with simple pronunciation , conversation and reading. I can spend 1 hour a day, 5 days per week in private lessons.
