I need to learn cantonese as i will be living in Canton as of May 2011. I am a beginner and MUST be able to read/write Cantonese. I am able to take lessons for 1-2 hours/week. I have tried to learn Cantonese off a disc/book but I have trouble with memory retention in learning other languages, I am looking for a teacher who will help me work around this and is able to teach me Cantonese in a short amount of time. I am looking for in person Japanese speaking lessons anywhere in the Brisbane area. I have travelled to Japan twice and will be returning in a few months.
My goal is to have basic speaking skills to have conversations with people I meet along the way.
I have been practising basic phrases and manners after learning from CD lessons but am finding that I am not learning conversationa l skills suited to my hobbies and interests.
I am looking for around two lessons per week in one on one or small group lessons. I would like lessons both before and continuing after my next trip as I hope to gain fluent but basic speaking skills.
I am seeking a sensei who is happy to focus on speaking as a priority over reading and writing although some skills would be valuable. Preferably someone who is either a native speaker or has spent reasonable time in Japan and can teach a casual and formal version of the language.
