Hello,
My wife, I and two friends wish to learn both Kannada and Hindi and want to start as soon as possible. My wife and I are from the US and our two friends are from Europe and speak very good english.
W e are looking for a teacher who can give us, as a group, personal/priv ate lessons [preferably at our home] and make it into a fun experience for all of us. We want a teacher who is a GOOD COMMUNICATOR.
We all know a few words in Kannada and Hindi - but we're basically beginners.
We want to learn these languages because we love India and want to spend most of our lives here. Learning these languages would be very helpful and enlivening for us.
I think we would want at least 1 or 2 lessons a week, each lesson being at least an hour - but who knows, maybe we'll want more once the fun begins!
We can't wait to find someone nice (a good teacher) and get started!

Ps. Just to give you an idea of what we had in mind, we were thinking of doing 1.5 hour classes, 2 times per week. We wanted to start learning Kannada and Hindi Simultaneousl y but some of us aren't sure (2 of us) that we can handle 2 languages at once and may only attend one of the lessons if they have a hard time. Some other things we were thinking about:
- We want to learn written as well as spoken Hindi and Kannada, but emphasis should be on spoken.
- If possible, we'd like to have a trial class or 2 to meet you, discuss timings and for us to see how well you teach. The sample lesson need not be a full one, but should include a sample lesson on written Hindi and on spoken Hindi (as well as Kannada). We will pay for the sample lesson. At the trial lesson, please tell us what materials you'd like us to have unless you plan to provide them.
- We would like someone who knows a little about grammar and can explain to us the verb forms and when to use certain words, etc., especially since we don't know any Indian languages.
- We need someone to give us homework, grade us, and test us.
