Why you are learning your foreign language (e.g., career advancement, etc.). For the last few years, I have been wanting to work/travel in Japan. I understand that people who are able to speak Japanese and fluent English have a better chance of getting jobs than those who are only proficient in one language.
Your proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.). I have completed a beginners course in Japanese speaking at TAFE.
The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc.), if any. I want to start learning conversationa l Japanese, and as I get more proficient at the language, start learning Kanji/Hirigan a and Kitagana.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons. I want to aim to have a basic understanding to the language within 6 months.
What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher. - Patience!

It has always been my goal to move to Japan to continue my teaching and performance career. I finished my B.Mus a few years ago and during that time I attempted to take courses in Japanese. Unfortunately , I couldn't make all the classes in the second semester, as they were in conflict with my music classes. That being said, I do have some beginner experience with the language but I am very much a beginner. I'm looking for a teacher who will help me develop my conversationa l abilities (as I had very little experience with that in a large classroom setting) as well as reading and writing. As for the time I'm willing to dedicate to my studies; I am a private teacher myself and I have about 5-6 hours available of free time each day as well as the odd break when students don't show up. I'm looking for a friendly teacher that isn't afraid to push me as hard as they think I can handle. This is one of my big goals for my career and I will put all my energy into it to make it happen.
