There are enough Russian speakers in the Philadelphia area to communicate with, and in fact I work with three. Originally the idea came from my 8yr old son. He wants to learn Chinese. My children go to school with all different nationalities , so this is probably where the idea originated. I would like to learn the language primarily because I want to know what my child is saying to me. Secondary reason is for business, I am a librarian.
We will need instruction from a beginner level. We can neither commit alot of time or money to the endeavor. My children go to the library after school so the instruction for them would take place there. I work at a different library, in the same neighborhood, so my instruction would take place there. We can only dedicate an hour twice a week, Monday and Wednesday evenings.
We are looking for an instructor that has alot of patience,comp assion and dedication. We want to learn the language to fluency, not just for basic conversation. So depending on fee this will be a long term commitment for us.

I am interested in learning Icelandic. I am interested for personal reasons (I would like to study as much as I can about Scandanavian culture) and hope to become fluent in the language with the ability to read and write in Icelandic as well as speak it one day. I am serious about learning this Language and I'm looking for someone who can be a long term teacher. My level is beginner. I tried audio tapes and books, however I feel I need more than that. I think the live interaction provides a much more in depth and progressive learning experience, as well as a warm satisfaction from positive reinforcement . I am looking for an individual who will keep me focused and engaged, with unique teaching methods, such as being able to make the material something I can relate to. I am willing to dedicate about 15 hours a week (which includes personal study time) to learning and practicing Icelandic.
