Two years ago I had the opportunity to visit Thailand with a group of 13 other awesome American teens, and I absolutely fell in love with the language and the people. While I was in Thailand, I did a two week long host stay and I felt such a strong connection to my host family, but I couldn't really speak to them because of the language barrier which bummed me out, because no matter how much they tried to include me in their lives, I still felt like a bit of an outsider because we couldn't speak to each other.
So I started teaching myself Thai when I got back to America by listening to and singing Thai songs on my youtube. I recently wrote one in Thai which went viral in Thailand, and now I have thousands of people that want me to succeed in learning Thai, and I'm going to try as hard as I can for them, my host family, and myself :)

Good afternoon,
I wish to visit Thailand with the prospect of possibly settling there next year. I would like to gain a basic understanding of the language, its pronunciation and its symbols. I am travelling there in June for two weeks and then again September/Oct ober for an extended period. Is it possible for me to gain a basic knowledge in this period of time.
