I am currently looking to learn Hindi (and Kannada) as a third (and fourth) language because my wife is from Bangalore and i would like to speak to my in-laws in thekr native language. I essentially want to improve my ability to communicate while i am in india as well as over the phone. I am most interested in speaking hindi, however reading would also be nice. I have picked up a handful of phrases and many basic nouns i wohld like to expand this to simple/basic conversationa l hindi. I am able to commit 2-4 hours a week.

My name is Daniel:
- I am learning Hindi, as I already speak/read/wr ite Pashto and would like to learn Urdu. Rather than simply learning Urdu, which I can already read, I would like to learn to also read and write Devangari.
- I am a beginner, and only know simple greetings.
- I wish to learn the complete language from a grammatical point of view.
- I will be available to take classes twice a week in the evenings or on weekends.
I would like my Teacher to have a firm grasp on both English and Hindi, including grammar, colloquial language and higher level language. A knowledge and understanding on Urdu would also be beneficial. I would like to find a teacher who is flexible and happy to move classes around to suit both mine and their schedule.

I am working/inter acting more and more with India and northern part of India. I know Tamil as I was born in Pondichery. I studied also in France. Later I started to study chinese and Hindi. Now I would like to practise Hindi for conversationa l level as well as reading and writing.

I am writing this in search of a teacher who is interested in teaching group classes to elementary school kids - in particular my 6.5 y.o daughter & others. She took a small group class when she was 4.5 to 5.5 y.o for about a year from a native Hindi speaker who ultimately returned to India. She is expressing an interest again, but all the schools and classes are in the South Bay and are too far to travel - even once per week. My husband is of Indian descent, but does not speak Hindi fluently. We are hoping to find a teacher who lives in the Oakland/Berke ley/El Cerrito area or close to these cities & to do this one time per week - most likely weekends.
