Hello everyone,
My name is Mena Ghabbour. I'm a 22 year old male who has just moved into Winnipeg for work. I have made it a personal life's goal to become fluent in as many languages as I can be. I am aspiring to learn French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Cantonese, and Arabic. Obviously, this is a big goal, but it's good to have dreams!
I find that I am traditionally weaker in language instruction. I do not do so well with languages in a formal classroom environment - if the class begins to move at a pace faster than I'm able, then my progress goes downhill. Hence, I'm looking for more informal, one on one or small group instruction.
I have a basic knowledge of French from the education system's required classes, and I grew up with my parents speaking Arabic - so, I understand Egyptian Arabic very well, but don't really have a great ability to speak it. I have selected Japanese as my starting language to work on, and took a course last year in university. I can read and write in Katakana and Hiragana, as well as in some basic kanji. I am studying on my own time, but would definitely classify myself as a beginner.

I will be studying in Japan from September to June and I would like to begin language classes as soon as possible. I have been studying Japanese language books for over a year, however due to lack of formal instruction, I am still a beginner student.
I need to improve grammar and sentence structure, in particular the different forms of verbs.
