I am learning Japanese as a personal goal. I have wanted to learn Japanese for as long as I can remember. It is become more of a driving need than I want. I have taken up to Japanese 402 in college and due to scheduling conflicts unable to continue. I would most likely state that I am a beginner in the language. I believe that I need the most inprovement in the areas around smooth conversation. I am willing to dedicate as much time as necessary to become fluent in the language as long as it does not conflict with my Job and financial stability. In a teacher I look for native speaking as well as culturally versed. I look for proficiency and accuracy. A good listener so as to correct my tone accent and cultural ignorance. Stern enough to tell me when I am doing it wrong. Subtle enough to keep progressing my skill.

I'm looking to learn Japanese for mostly personal interest in Japanese culture, I may be considering a job involving Japanese but I am unsure as to what I am doing in the long term. I'd be looking at roughly 3 hours of teaching a week. I have some knowledge of the language, particularly the kana and some kanji and basic grasp of the grammar of the Japanese language. My grammar skills and vocabulary are not that strong and I wish to improve on those first and foremost.

I want to learn Japanese as a third language for my Leaving Cert. Up until now I've been using Rosetta Stone, however, I have a habit of not bothering. I prefer being taught by a person, with a requirement to turn up for each lesson (unlike a computor program).
At the moment, I have very little Japanese, and almost no kanji/katakan a/hiragana. I'm looking for a good teacher who can teach me for my Leaving Cert in 2012.
