My name is Michelle Spada and I am a Vanderbilt University student currently studying abroad in Shanghai. Here in Shanghai, I have been taking Beginning 1 Mandarin classes. I will be back in Nashville for the summer (June 20-August 18) and would like to work with a tutor to ensure that I do not lose everything I learned here. Ideally, I would like to advance through Beginning 2 by the end of the summer. I would like to dedicate around 2-4 hours per week for tutoring sessions. I am looking for a teacher who can easily explain Mandarin grammer and practice oral Mandarin with me.

The reason to learn the new language is for career advancement, our proficiency level is beginners, the areas where where we will like to concentrate are conversation and reading.
We are planning to dedicated at least 4 hours a week, we are a family group of 4, where we have kits from 12 to 17 years so we are looking for a teacher that can adapt the teaching process for all.

I am looking for an Icelandic Tutor. When I was in Grad school, I lived in Reykjavik for a year as part of an exchange program. I have been studying Icelandic at home ever since and I come back to Iceland every year for a visit. My goal is to become fluent in the language. I want to master grammar and become fluent enough to converse on an every day basis. I am willing to dedicate time every day to study of the language. The quality that I am looking for most in a teacher is flexibility. I want to find a tutor that will work with me on grammar as well as on conversation. My son Iliya, who is 5 years old, speaks English with his father and Russian with me. I want him to be perfectly fluent in Russian at the level of (or close to) native proficiency. We are looking for an instructor who can teach him to read and cultivate a passion for reading. We expect a long-term engagement -- 3-5 hours a week. Preferable qualities in the teacher: excellent Russian language (not affected by the knowledge of English); the sense of authority but complemented by sensitivity and compassion; ability to encourage a child to learn, not exerting excessive pressure; vital personality and positive attitude.
