Hi, my name is Dustin Smith. I was introduced to the French language on a modeling trip about 10 years ago. As I heard the Cruise Director speaking French...I immediately told one of the models with me that I will learn the French language, someday. I am recently divorced, but my ex-wife spoke fluent French. She learned the language in college and while teaching English in Paris for 3 years. I traveled France with her for 4 months in 2007 on a 'wine' vacation (we were engaged in Eze, married in Paris and honeymooned in the Seychelles) so I have heard French spoken quite often. I do understand some French, but, at this point, my speaking level is very basic. I feel my 'hearing' is much better than my 'speaking'. My grammar is novice and my conversation is entry level. My ex-wife helped me somewhat with the language, but I got discouraged with learning because of her lack of patience with me in my attempts to learn the language. I recently took French I at Collin County Community College with Collette McAlester. I am definitely at a Beginner Level. I would like to take private lessons in hopes of expediting my proficiency of the language. I would prefer a fun and patient teacher, but one who will push and challenge me to learn. I am not afraid of constructive criticism. I love the French citizens, the French culture...the French language. In my previous trips to France I did not have to try and speak much French because my wife spoke fluently. My hope is to return to France and be able to 'survive' and immerse myself in the culture and its people. My initial thought is to take a lesson per week, maybe two -- the frequency would depend on the overall cost. I have no idea how much private lessons cost. I noticed private lessons are typically for 2-3 people. Unfortunately , I do not have anyone I know that would like to pursue learning the French language at this time. Hopefully, I could jump in with another private lessons class. I look forward to hearing from someone, soon.

I am learning french because my boyfriend of 2 years is french and I want to be more proficient so I can communicate with him, his french friends, and his family (who do not speak english.) I took 1 year of french in high school, 2 years at the university. I remember some of the basics, but cannot do conversationa l.
I need more improvement in conversation and pronunciation s.
I would like to do language lessons once a week on the weekends for a few hours per session. Or am open to other scheduling that might be more beneficial for my needs.
I am looking for a patient, easy going, focused teacher that wont make me feel pressured but at the same time has the eye on the prize.

I am studying to become fluent in French. I've had one year long intensive class, which met five days a week and had an additional 3hours of lab for conversation. So, you know I'm dedicated to learning. Ineed a lot of help orally,hearin g and responding. I can't translate from the grammar and vocabulary I know to oral work and understanding .
I would like to work in a small group if there is one. I can meet some days and/or evenings. I do not want to travel far.
I would like a native speaker, but will work
with any college or private school teacher, or French graduate student with good oral skills and teaching ability.

I want to learn french because my husband speaks french and his family as well, and i would like our kids to know it and learn it as they get older. I am a beginner. I would love a teacher who works one on one, mid- fast pace, and requires the student to do most of the work.
