For both Mandarin and Japanese, I would be a beginner at learning the language. I have had a great interest in learning Mandarin because I like certain parts of Chinese culture and found it interesting when I found out that I had Chinese roots. I've wanted to learn Manadarin since I was about 9 for personal reasons and also more recently because I've decided that I want to study business. This situation applies also to learning Japanese but I do not have Japanese roots. I watch a lot of tv shows and movies that are in Japanese and I also would like to learn the language for business purposes. I would like to learn mostly conversationa l aspects of each language but have a well rounded program so that I am efficient in all areas. I am willing to dedicate perhaps 2 hour sessions on weekends until the summertime rolls around and I am out of school. I am looking for a teacher that is patient, energetic about teaching and that is challenging. I can learn things very quickly and so I hope to be pushed as much as I can to learn as much as possible very quickly.
