M y proficiency level is definetly beginner (I don't know a single word in Lao).
As for time, I would like to know Lao by 2016 at the latest. That is all that matters.

I have a Lao girlfriend. I want to be able to participate in conversations with friends and family when they are all speaking Lao. I just finished 12 week couse in beginner lao. The school I went to is no longer teaching lao because their lao teacher is pursuing other interests. I have 3 friends from my lao class that are also interested in continuing to learn lao.

I would like intensive instruction for 3 weeks, until I return home to Luxembourg. Would expect to continue when I come back to Laos (as yet undecided). I have no daily committments so can manage several hours each day. Conversationa l Lao is, of course, necessary, but I want to learn to read and write too. I'm a beginner.

I would like to learn Laotian because I have a lot of friends that speak it. That, and my kids are half Laotian. I am a beginner and I know a few phrases.
I don't know how to write any Laotian, but I would love to learn. I think I need a lot of work on pronunciation .
I would like to dedicate about 3 hours a week to start....mayb e advance a little in the future. I am looking for a teach that won't break my bank and who is patient.
