Career advancement. I work for the canadian military so this just raises my oppurtunities for travel.
I am not sure how you qualify language profiency but in regards to spanish I am a beginner.
I would like to hone my skills in all aspects of the language.
As much as the group sessions will allow, granted I would also take the work home to practice there.
The ability to engage, if the teacher is able to engage me on different levels the speed with which ill grasp the subject matter will increase.

I am hoping to learn Swahili as I am visiting my sponsor child and his family at the School of St Jude in Tanzania in February and want to be able to converse in their own language! I have no prior learning in this language as yet. I am happy to dedicate a fair amount of time to this before I go as it's not far away!
I am also interested in learning Spanish as I will be spending some time in Peru in September 2011. I have already learnt some basic spanish and would like to be able to get this to a conversationa l level before my trip.
I do pick up languages fairly quickly and enjoy learning them. I'm looking for a teacher who will challenge me and work to my pace.
