Hi, I want to learn Japanese because I love the language, culture and wish to live there someday. I'm a biginner. I currently have roseta stone but it's not as useful talking to a computer. I need help in all areas. I'm familar with Hiragana, a little katakana and four kanji. I'm willing to dedicate 2-4 hours toward my lessons. Greetings!
My name is Greta, I am a Video Producer for About[dot]com . I am looking for a Japanese expert to employ for a videos series on learning the basics of Japanese. The video shoots would be very simple -- basically you will be explaining each topic on-camera - using a white board for some examples. I will provide fresh white board markers! It will be fun!
Some of the example topics include:
L earn Japanese: What are Hiragana Characters?
Learn Japanese: How to Write Hiragana: Dashes and Circles
Le arn Japanese: Special Numbers for Counting
I will pay in cash as we complete each video shoot. $25/video topic --- we can shoot about 3 topics in approx. 1 hour, so the pay rate is about $25/hr. There are 25 topics available. We can finish all the topics in one week, if you'd like to work at that pace.
Your part will be to prepare a simple outline for each topic (the videos are very brief, so it would need to be very simple). The other part will be participating as the Japanese expert in the video shoot. We can shoot somewhere on campus, a space with a whiteboard.
Your name and/or business would be credited in the intro and transcript on the About[dot}com site. About[dot]com is a New York Times Company.

I am a nanny to a 4 year old and 18 month old boy whose mom is from Brazil. The boys are being raised bilingual, English and Portuguese. I have done some Rosetta Stone and have a Lonely Planet phrasebook but I really am more of a written, logical type of student and the immersion technique of Rosetta just doesn't do it for me. I need to learn from a native speaker, hopefully from Porto Allegro area so as to obtain the proper dialect also.
My level of achievement is at the stage of basic commands and questions pertinent to the job, i.e., where are your shoes, time to get dressed, brush your teeth, don't do that!, etc. I would love to surprise my employer by really being able to hold a decent conversation with her in her native language, as well as be able to hold my own when we travel to Brazil every December.
I can devote 3 days a week to my learning and would like to do it on FaceTime or Skype.
