I am in Lethbridge, Alberta.
I am a motivated beginner in Mandarin. I recently visited Beijing and Taipei, and will return for short trips in 2010 and following, to continue my studies and possible academic associations. I am interested in working on speaking at first, and learning characters later. I am also interested in the landscape, history and culture, so I am motivated to learn quickly in preparation for my visits to China, but I also plan to continue improving for the longer term. I know some (very little) Dutch and Mandarin Chinese but would like to know more (especially as I have a Dutch passport). I took French in school, but would like to get it back up to a good level.

The reason why i want to learn cantonese and mandarin is simply because 1/6 of the population knows those languages instead of english. rather then to wait for a billion people to speak english, simply go on their side.
and of course for career advancement.

I would like to learn Mandarin as a personal interest. I am a beginner. I would like to focus on the conversation part of the language with some writing and reading skills if possible. I can dedicate 3-4 hours everyday for learning the language. Ideally I am looking for someone who can come to my residence in Greater Noida. Transportatio n cost can be discussed.
