I have only been studying cantonese for a very brief amount of time. I will be in xi'an for about 1 year starting from september as an international exchange student attending shaanxi normal university to study Mandarin. However, Cantonese has always interested me and i really wish to learn speaking reading and writing, especially now that my girlfriend is a guangzhou native.

I am a current student in Shanghai learning Mandarin, but I will like to learn Cantonese as well. I already know some basic sentences, but will like to be able to communicate properly. Therefore I am looking for a teacher who can teach basic Cantonese conversation couple times a week.

I lived in Hong Kong for many years until about 13 years ago. When I left Hong Kong, my Cantonese was very good - I could talk with anyone, understand TV and radio, with only a little difficulty. However, in the intervening 10 years I have not used the language, and now find that it has deteriorated badly, to the extent where I cannot understand TV programs, and have problems putting sentences together in a proper (understandab le) format.
I would like to spend a couple of hours a week immersing myself in the language, listening to broadcasts and having them explained to me, and doing some general conversation.
