I was raised in Istanbul, Turkey, and so I am somewhat familiar with some Arabic terms. However, I have always wanted to learn the language, and there is no time like the present. I am willing to dedicate as much time as is needed to get a full grasp on the language. In my teacher I am looking for patience and understanding . I have never studied Arabic before and don't even know how to say hello. I want to learn Arabic for 'career advancement' as I am currently an RN interested in international health care (I have spent the past 3 years working in Central America and am fluent in Spanish). I am planning to begin studying at UPenn for my Family Nurse Practioner degree this fall and hope to do some international work in Arab-speaking countries when finished.
I am currently planning in purchasing the Rosetta Stone in Arabic and partaking in self learning before beginning one-on-one classes. Once I am finished with the Rosetta Stone (November??) I hope to have classes at least twice a week.
I am looking for a teacher with patience for new students who is available in the evenings. I also prefer a female, although will be willing to have a male teacher if he is patient and professional.

I am a new to the islamic religion and inshaallah would like to partake in the hajj this year. I feel that enhancing my ability to speak the arabic languaue in more detail will help me to grow in my religion.
