I am currently a beginner in speaking mandarin. i am learning the language because i find not just the language but the culture fascinating. I am currently in school and have many chinese students in my class that can only communicate in mandarin, it would make me happy to be able to discuss thing with them without having a translator nearby. I feel i can dedicate a good portion of my time to studying the language, i am very flexible. I am looking for a teacher that can teach me the ins and outs of this language, maybe even some of its culture.

Proficiency: I am a beginner at learning Chinese (Mandarin). I only know a few words and phrases.
R eason for learning Mandarin: My reason's are threefold: i) to better communicate with my fiancee's family, who reside in Changsha, China; ii) to open up avenues of career possibilities in China; and iii) to improve my personal array of lingustics.
Areas for improvement: speaking (i.e., properly pronouncing the 4 tones); writing an reading; and listening comprehension (i.e., properly differentatin g the 4 tones).
Ti me dedication: I would be willing to dedicate approximately 2 hours per day to learning Mandarin.
Qualities in lessons/teach ers: Lessons that are thorough, and provide me with material I can easily practice with and use in the real world. Teahers that are patient, qualified, and understand both English and Mandarin very well.
