I am an intermediate Russian speaker. I have 2 years experience teaching myself with Pimnleurs and various books and one CD program. My wife is Russian and I would like to speak with her easily in Russian. I watch Russian TV though can understand amybe 20%. I don't exactly have a ear for it yet. I grasp the case system and basic rules but and do not use it easily without a hard coded memorization approach. My retention with this approach is too low for my liking. Ultimately I want to teach our children to speak both Russian and English. I may also have an opportunity to work in Russia though my job.
