I was a Linguistics and Japanese double-major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I was in Japan for four months, studying at a university in Nishinomiya. Since coming back to San Diego, however, I've been unable to continue my studies. The school that I'm attending now doesn't offer any Japanese classes, so I'm looking for another way to learn, since I'm terrible at learning without any kind of structure.
I'm at a decent intermediate level at the moment. I understand the grammar decently well, and my vocabulary is a decent size, but speaking and listening comprehension are my weaknesses. I know around 300 kanji, although I really have to brush up on them. (No pun intended.)
I mostly need someone to speak with. I'm decent at reading Japanese, especially if I have a kanji dictionary, but my speaking ability is really, really terrible. I want to be able to speak well, and I don't want to lose all of my knowledge of the language. I really need some help soon.

I am interested in a variety of language because I plan to study abroad during my high school career. I have studied French for two years and have some experience with Sign Language because I work at a pediatric facility with children who only communicate through signs, but have yet to study Arabic or Chinese. I plan on dedicating the summer of 2011 to learning these languages, and I want to have atleast one lesson a week during the school year. I am looking for a patient, however extremely motivated and educated teacher.
