I would like to learn Spanish because I believe it is important worldwide. I like the language. In addition, I may need it in my career as a professional. My level is beginner. Almost all areas need improvement. I am welling to spend one to two hours for a session. I am up to have three to four sessions a week. I travel to Guatemala to volunteer in the medical field 2 times a years. At first I wanted to learn Spanish just to exchange pleasantries with the people there, as we usually have translators. But then I became very interested in learning more about the language. I bought lots of Spanish workbooks, tried to read Spanish books and watch movies either in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. I've even had a Spanish tutor for the past year. Her style was very grammatical which I understood the theory of, but my use of the grammar and conversationa l skills were greatly lagging. She was teaching the subjunctive tense, which I understood in theory, but in reality I was still struggling to use the past tenses. I am not obviously a gifted in the area of language. But nor do a have a learning disability. I have worked hard to learn Spanish, but the amount of time put in does not match the level where I am at. I suppose I need conversationa l practice, at the lower levels, i.e. past tenses before moving on. I also need a patient, flexible tutor who can adapt lessons according to actual level of understanding . As passionate as I am about learning Spanish, it only makes sense to either admit defeat in this area of learning or find help that would make a difference.

I did a few years at school from 13 to 15, but basic and dont remember too much
