I'm married to a Latvian woman and I'm making slow progress trying to learn the language while we live here in the U.S. I'm very much a beginner and I need improvement in all areas, though I'd like to improve my confidence in conversation (listening and speaking) the most. I'd like to try devoting four hours per day (in-person) to learning Latvian while I'm visiting family in Latvia. It's too difficult to learn from family because I need a more structured learning environment.
The qualities I'm looking for in a teacher are:
1.) A strong sense of organization
2.) The ability to articulate a plan with achievable goals (the goals can be simple as I'm very much a beginner)
3. ) Patience =)

I am interested in working with someone to improve my Spanish. My fiance is from Mexico and my best friend is Puerto Rican so I am around Spanish speakers a lot. I took two years of Spanish in High School and two years in college so I have a decent base to work from. I basically need to improve my grammer/vocab ulary and practice speaking and listening in Spanish.

Hi! I am a teacher in the North Houston area and I am wanting to learn the basics of Arabic. I will be heading to Abu Dhabi to teach English in August so would like to take a few private lessons each week before I go. Some years ago I decided to learn a second language simply for fun. An acquaintance I knew at the time had expressed that they had decided to learn a second language in their middle age stage of life and found it to be very enjoyable. In an article on learning a second language as an adult, there were findings that it was beneficial for mental qualities. At the time I lived in Houston and found a private tutor that was very reasonable and started lessons of 1 & ½ hours a day four days a week. As a result of relocation to the East (Delaware) I have not found any private lessons available. I have acquired a Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur set of DVD/CDs. I am interested in finding a more personal approach and start again.
