I am looking to be fluent in another language aside from English. I love to travel and a lot of the people in my inner circle speak French. I also am pursuing a career in International social work and picking up on a second language would be quite beneficial. I want to learn French out of general interest. I have relatives in France and when I visit I would like to hold conversations in French. My proficiency level is very beginner. I have studied some DVDs in recent past,and some group classes many many years ago. I need improvement in all areas, but I am most interested in conversation, but I do want to improve grammar also.
I am interested in group classes, if available. I live in downtown Detroit, and I could offer my house for a group class, if needed.
I am looking for a teacher that is patience, understanding of difficulties in learning a foreign language at my age, and who will make my experience enjoyable and not stressful.
I travel a little bit, but I would like to invest an average of one class per week (2hrs if possible) and additional personal study time. I do not work and have some flexibility with schedules.

I've always been fascinated by Russia and hope to move there sometime in the future. In order to experience the rich country fully, I need a basic understanding of the language.
