Hi,
I have decided to improve my Cantonese for future use because I plan on going back to Hong Kong to further my career. I am very fluent in Cantonese for an individual who has settled in Canada for 17 years of my life. Although I am fluent, my reading and writing has decreased ever since .. I've left Chinese School behind back in grade 9, currently I am in mt 3rd year of University.
In general, I believe I need a lot of assistance in my reading and writing; grammar.. etc.
I would like to dedicate quite a bit of time to my language lessons - its something I am very determined to do.
Qualit ies I am looking for in my teacher;
Pat ience, supportive, motivating, encouraging, reliable and honest.
I want someone who is really passionate about the Chinese Culture and Language as much as I am.

Wish to improve my understanding of Chinese culture and literature.
I have some understanding of Mandarin and classic Chinese literature and can read and write some hanzi. I have read the works of Li Bai, du Fu, Laozi and Cao Xueqin. I can speak some Cantonese and Mandarin but my weakness is in tones.
I have free time in afternoons, Glasgow is within easy reach also I have broadband internet access.. I am not retired and also need to learn Cantonese for business purposes. I need to learn cantonese as i will be living in Canton as of May 2011. I am a beginner and MUST be able to read/write Cantonese. I am able to take lessons for 1-2 hours/week. I have tried to learn Cantonese off a disc/book but I have trouble with memory retention in learning other languages, I am looking for a teacher who will help me work around this and is able to teach me Cantonese in a short amount of time.
