Hello,
My name is Sharlene, I am actually interested in finding a teacher for my 5yr old son, Jayden. He is half Vietnamese (from his father) and half Trinidadian (from his mother). I really would like him to learn his 2nd language, I only speak English and his father is bilingual but doesn't enforce Jayden learning the Vietnamese language. I am divorced so his father does not live with us which makes it difficult for him to learn the language when he's not around it within the household. I would like to speak with you more about the possibilities of you teaching him further.

I would like to have Vietnamese language lessons for many reasons:
- firstly, my girlfriend is from Hanoi and i'd like to understand more about her language and culture. Vietnam fascinates me. Also, if I understand even a little Vietnamese then I would be able to better communicate with her family. At the moment I cannot.
- secondly, obviously I could learn Vietnamese from my girlfriend however as she is a student, she doesn't have time. Also, by having a teacher I will be more disciplined to learn.
- thirdly, the world is changing. The power of the world is moving eastwards, Europeans like me need to adapt and to learn an Asian language would benefit me.
- fourthly, I would like to visit Vietnam and knowing the language would give me confidence for when I travel.
I would be starting at beginner level. My girlfriend's mother says I have good speaking skills, it is just that I don't know what I am saying. My girlfriend will tell me what to say but I have no idea what the words mean.

My name is Chris, I am half-Vietname se (mother's side) and an American citizen proficient in English only. I wish to learn Vietnamese in order to better understand my relatives without an interpreter and to seek business relations in Saigon. I am interested in learning the southern dialect of Vietnamese from an established, proven teacher from Saigon. I am a 'beginner', and would start with the very basics of pronunciation and grammar, and of course vocabulary and conversationa l skills to follow. I currently reside in Dallas, TX, USA, which would limit the method of teaching to online chat, video chat, phone, etc. Your website has intrigued me for three reasons. I find that your Vietnamese teaching is highly regarded by former students. Your availability for teaching through video chat is a must for me. And finally your prices are reasonable if you are as effective as advertised. I would be looking for a minimum of three hours a week of direct teaching, as well as the accompanying supplemental material to learn outside of those three hours for 'self study'. I am prepared to dedicate 10 to 15 hours a week in the pursuit of this goal. As far as what qualities would I look for in a teacher. Patient, knowledgeable , and understanding are three I can think of immediately. In addition, a precise, effective teacher with a proven progression of lessons that create confidence in the student would be another quality I seek.
