I am currently living and working in China, but will be returning to Victoria for a short time this summer. I would like to learn some basic spoken Mandarin. I already know some basic phrases etc. to get by but I know very little about the 'rules' of the language. I am not interested in learning written Chinese at this time.

I want to learn mandarin or french because i am interested in these languages and think that they will benefit me in the future. They are spoken by a lot of people i know and will make interacting with them easier. I am a beginner and have no previous knowledge of both languages. I am in Kuwait for only the summer and hence would like to learn one of the above mentioned languages in the 2-3 months time I have.Since i am on summer break, time is not an issue and I want to become as proficient in the language as I can in this short time.

I'm learning Chinese because it is the most spoken language in the world, and since I plan to go into international politics it will be a very useful language to know. I'm currently in my fourth year of Chinese study and I am willing to dedicate as much time as needed to become proficient in this language. I need particular help in grammar and tones. I would like my teacher to be an experienced native speaker, but with a firm grasp of English. Unfortunately , I've missed quite a bit of school due to illness, and I will need help catching up in the next three weeks, to be finished in time for graduation.
