Bonjour,
J' étudiais le français pendant 9 ans, au lycée et á l'université. J'ai fine mes études depuis plus de trois ans, et il n'y a pas beaucoup de personne avec qui je peux pratiquer. Je peux lire et écrire assez bien, mais je voudrais parler meilleur et entendre meilleur, surtout pour améliorer ma grammaire en conversation.
I know that private lessons are often expensive, but I'm afraid I can't afraid to pay very much right now. However, since I have had a lot of difficulty finding local colleges and universities that offer advanced French courses, perhaps we can work something out where I can pay your regular amount, but with fewer classes. Ideally I would like to meet once a week, but if price is an issue, then perhaps once or twice a month would suffice.
I would love to be able to say that I am fluent on my resume, because I would like to work international ly. However, at present, I need practice speaking more than anything.
Learning by immersion would be welcome at this point. Throughout high school and college, I was surrounded by students who would convince the teacher to speak in English so that they could understand better. However, this has limited my ability to listen during a conversation.

I am learning Amharic because I have visited Ethiopia and plan to do so again in the future. I am a beginner, but have taught myself (through the internet and books) how to read and write Fidel on a basic level. I need particular improvement with grammar, conversation, reading. I am teaching ASL as a foriegn language at a local high school and have not yet passed the proficiancy portion of my certification exam. I was involved in a deaf community in Lubbock, Texas when I was a student at Texas Tech University. Since leaving Lubbock, my ASL skills have diminished. I am interested in being able to pass my exam by April, 2011, and may be interested in continuing my learning to eventually become an interpretor.
