I am a intermediate beginner. I was in Brazil for 7 weeks this summer and studied intensively for 2 weeks. I am a Spanish speaker and teacher so I have some advantage. I am looking for a trained teacher( degree not required) , with a good understanding of the grammar and who uses a variety of methods and activities to teach the language. I need mostly to be able to speak with more fluency but would also like to read and write. I need about an hour a week.

I have taken two intensive beginner's courses, and one intensive intermediate course, in Croatia (Zagreb, Zadar, and Dubrovnik). I understand approximately 50% of normal conversation, and have a good command of basic grammar (cases and verb tenses; prepositions and syntax are shakier). I am learning Croatian in order to conduct long-term ethnographic field research in Croatia and Bosnia approximately one year from now, and so it is most important to me that I greatly improve my conversation abilities -- speaking and listening comprehension -- as soon as possible. I would also like to be able to proficiently read newspapers and write *basic* texts (i.e., letters and e-mails).

I am currently studying towards a maters in environmental development at the University of Pennsylvania and see opportunity within the Chinese market. I do not have any previous experience with the language, however I recently returned from a 3 week trip to China. I'm willing to spend all the time can give.
