Hello, I would like to learn Slovak. My mother is Slovak (living in England) and I have a lot of family living in Slovakia. Although a beginner, I do have memory of vocabulary. I would like to learn the language properly, especially grammar.
I would like an experienced teacher to help me with conversation and written work, and I would prefer lessons in person. I am slightly older - so patience would be appreciated too!

Why you are learning your foreign language
I want to learn the Slovak language because I lived in Slovakia for several months but I was unable to find the time to learn the language. My objective is to be able to have a basic conversation with my friend entirely in Slovak. I hope to spend the summer learning Slovak in Bratislava so I want to be at least elementary level when I arrive.

I would like to start with a couple of hours a week and then maybe begin more intensively.
What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher?
I need a teacher that is patient, friendly and able to identify where I am weak and pursue that course of language learning. My objective is to be able to have a conversation, so we can start with that target. I don't learn from drilling grammar, I learn much better by learning words and phrases, repetition of those phrases, and then understanding the grammatical construction of those phrases in order to allow me to be able create my own phrases.

I am learning Slovak because my mum is from there and I wish to learn to be able to talk to her in a language other than English. I am probably classed as a beginner, I fell as if I need improvement in most aspects of the language, the only one I don't really need help with is the pronunciation . I would like to dedicate at least 1 day per week (weekends only) to my studies as I am still in school and I would be willing to work from home if need be. In my language teacher, I am looking for someone who will be able to teach me Slovak we'll and efficiently, but at a pace that I can manage.
