My partner and I are beginners in Swahili. We travel regularly to East Africa to teach vocational skills and the bible, via an interpreter, in rural area. We would like to learn to hold a conversation, sentence construction, phrases and understand replies. We are willing to travel (approx.50mil e radius) and would like a once weekly lesson, preferably an evening.

My proifiency level is beginner. I would like to learn Swahili as i plan to teach english abroad to childern in Tazania. I am prepared to dedicate at least 2 years into learning this language. The only qualities I look for in a teacher is patience and understanding and good sense of humor.

I went to east Africa in 2002 and taught children for 4 months, i learnt enough swahili to get by, and want to end up living and working in either Tanzania or Kenya. I need to improve my Swahili though as it has been some time since i have been there, i would be willing to pay well for the lessons, though bear in mind i'am a student. I spent four months in Tanzania last year and picked up a small amount of Swahili. I am a beginner and would like to improve my language skills to a) be able to communicate with Tanzanian people better and b) to improve my job prospects.
Ideally I would like to meet with a Swahili teacher for one or two (max) hours per week initially just to converse. If the lessons are succesful I would like to go on to have grammar instruction.
I would like the Swahili teacher to be proficient in English. To be friendly and patient.
