I have a desire to learn Arabic and about the Muslim culture. I am a beginner and have not had any classes in Arabic before. I am very interested in living in a mid-eastern country within the next few years. I would be interested in spending 1-2 hours a week to begin with. I am preparing for my first of (hopefully) several trips to Damascus, Syria in April 09.
My short term goal is to begin to develop an arabic vocabulary, build a stockpile of phrases usefully for daily life in the middle east, and begin to understand the rhythms and tones of the arabic language.
Long term - I would like to be fully conversationa l in Arabic.
- I am looking for a teacher who is available at least one night per week for private lessons.
- I am a beginner in the language but am looking for a teacher capable of constructing a structured lesson plan with homework in order to help me to reach my short term goals.
