Hi,
I am a Pakistani born Australian educated girl who is marrying a Bengali boy this year and I desperately need to learn how to converse with my inlaws and wedding planners! I speak Hindi/Urdu fluently so am hoping it won't take me very long to speak/underst and spoken Bengali. I am currently not interested in learning how to read or write Bengali. I need to be conversant in Bengali by July this year. Could you please advise how many lessons/hours I would need for this?

I am writing to enquire about a suitable short term intensive bangla course for my 14 year old son who is in year 9.
My son is able to make simple bangla conversations but has to depend a lot on English for vocabulary. The fluency also starts to suffer once the conversations get a bit involved. He knows all the letters too except for joint letters. I am hoping to utilise his coming school holidays in April to do something about this – basically, to strengthen his foundations in the language – speaking, reading and writing. He does attend Saturday Bengali classes here but the progress is simply too slow.
Do you have a suitable intensive method that you could recommend? My son would be able to attend for two weeks in April for any reasonable number of hours every day. I don’t mind if he attends classes with adults as long as the discussion contents do not include topics that are for mature adults only.
If you have something to recommend, kindly send me the details to help me make some decisions.
Note: my son would be staying in Uttara, not far from the airport.
