I would like to learn Mandarin Chinese. I travel to China about 5 times per year for business and I spend a lot of time in factories. It would greatly help my career if I understood Mandarin.
I am a beginner and I have only had one 6 week course at Emory. I believe one on one instruction would speed up my progress.
At Emory, I only had about 2 hours per week. I would like to increase that if possible.
I am looking for a teacher that is not too far from my house or does not mind coming to my house to give the lessons.

I have recently been to China for a software project and have acquired a basic knowledge of Mandarin. I know basic words, grammar and phrases and can read about 75 characters.
I would like to maintain and expand my knowledge of Mandarin, as I will be returning at least twice within the next year.
What I lack is a good listening knowledge - understanding what is said to me. I also need to polish my tones.
I am looking for about 10 sessions to start, about twice a week for an hour. One of the sessions should be on the weekend, but that's no absolutely necessary. Any sessions during the week would have to be in the evening.

I will start out by saying that my late wife was Chinese and I have two children aged 20 months and 6 years. She spoke both English and Chinese to my son (the 6 year old)and wanted him to be proficient in both English and Chinese. In the time since her death he has lost a lot of what he learned. His Chinese grandparents visit 3 or 4 times a year and try to remind him of words and phrases.
I am not Chinese but very much want to learn the language so that I can help the children. Also, I feel the globalization of the world makes it important to learn this language.
I will dedicate whatever amount of time it takes for my family to learn Mandarin because it was so important to my wife.
I would like to learn more about your services.
