I would be a beginner in learning Hindi. I want to learn it for career advancement, to communicate with other Indians, and to hang onto my cultural background because I am originally from India. I'd like to focus on reading, writing, grammar, and conversation. I'd like to dedicate 4 hours per week to being tutored because I want to learn as much as possible in a short amount of time. I have been trying to learn Hindi for quite some time. I have purchased audio books, textbooks, Rosetta Stone, etc. and I feel I need more guidance. My boyfriend is from India and speaks Hindi fluently. However, I feel it is best to learn from someone who is not close to you. His parents do not speak much English nor do his relatives. We are most likely going to be married in central India next summer. From what I have heard, there are not many English speakers in the area where we will be. I would love to improve conversationa l abilities. Right now my schedule changes often. I teach chemistry normally and right now my boyfriend's parents are in town. I would love to meet once a week if possible. I am looking for an extremely patient teacher who is willing to work with someone who is extremely shy with languages.

I am a beginner. Right now I know nothing about the Hindi language, but I am excited to learn! I will be traveling in India and I'm also interested in a career as a Foreign Service officer. I will be in the US for another 2 months and I would like to learn as much as possible within that time. I would be happy to have a basic understanding of the alphabet, beginning grammer, and some basic phrases before I leave to travel. I'd continue my study of the language while traveling! I'd like to meet with someone 1-2 time per week and I'm hoping to find a teacher with some teaching experience who is enthusiastic with their students.

Hello!
I'm hoping you might be able to help me learn Hindi. I started to take a class at DU but my teacher had problems with her visa and had to cancel class. My boyfriend is from Punjab and his parents are coming this summer, plus I'm attending a wedding with them. Soooo I need to learn. Before my teacher left I had just learned the alphabet and how to pronounce the the letters (characters?) Though I still need work. So I need to learn grammar and conversation skills. I'm looking for a teacher that will be able to teach me what I will need to know to communicate clearly and confidently. Also if he could give me more insight into the culture I would really appreciate it. I work 9-5 for my first job and have a part time second job to, I am also taking a web design course but would be willing to make time to learn.
