I have no experience with Hindi, but am very excited about learning more about the language as well as the culture.
I would like to learn the Hindi Language because I work directly with two people from India and I find them both fascinating. I also feel that you can never know too much and lanuage has always interested me.
I know I will need extra attention on grammar as well as pronunciation and am willing to devote myself to up to 3 classes a week with the duration being between 2-3 hours per class.
There are no particular qualities I am looking for in a teacher. I know nothing about the Hindi language so I am at the mercy of the teacher:-)

Absolute Beginner. I generally just love languages. I speak French and German. I am learning Spanish and ASL. I love to travel, but I feel that all my travels have been richer in the countries where I speak the language. I would love to travel to India to learn more about the culture, language, and to learn yoga. Currently I have a lot of time to dedicate to learning Hindi. Perhaps 10 or more hours/week. I am looking for a teacher who is kind and fun and who loves teaching.

I want to take a few private lessons to be able to politely greet people in Hindi and maybe say a few sentences, know numbers, days of week, etc. I'm leaving for Delhi on March 14th so it needs to be soon. I would like a teacher that has knowledge of Delhi and could help me with a few customs so I would not offend. I would also like to take a few appropriate gifts for business and personal acquaintances and need suggestions. Would like female teacher if possible.

Beginning level. I am applying for a CORC Scholarship for the summer of 2008. I have spent 5 months in Jaipur, and northern India for personal research and spiritual purposes. I am seeking lessons in the Hindi language. I am an absolute beginner and have no past expereience with the language. I am planning on volunteeing in India sometime in the next year or two and would like to have some knowledge of the language before I go.
