I'm an American architect and am currently focused on learning Arabic as spoken in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine & Jordan. I can read and write (بالعامية، ما بالفصحى) and am looking to practice speaking and to expand my vocabulary. I also know a little Farsi and Hindi/Urdu, and I speak decently in Italian and Spanish, and I'd like to improve those as well. I'm looking for people to practice with often, to talk about all kinds of things. I'm interested in many things from books, movies, literature and music to news, politics, et al. I speak American English with a standard accent from the city.

I have no Arabic skills.
I want to learn because i've studied
Glob alization and the MIddle East at university,
and to further my knowledge and experience, i think
it's important to learn Arabic.
I would like to focus on conversation, then reading/writi ng.
I can devote at least 6 hours a week...more if needed.
I would prefer a group setting...mai nly because i've just

hi am an english speaking arab-american and i want to be able to speak my language with my relatives in the middle east when i visit them over the summer. almost everyone in my family can speak arabic but myself and i am becoming frustrated. being that i am arab i feel even more of a need to speak this language.

I am a beginner student. I know the alphabet and most of the numbers, a few phrases. My husband is French/Tunisi an and speaks several languages, including Arabic. It's a beautiful language that I would like to learn to speak. I learn best with heavy emphasis on grammar. I could make enough time for a couple lessons per week. I need something very close to home, (San Francisco), and even better if the teacher could meet with me at my office (Potrero Hill neighborhood) .
