I am a student at california culinary academy and would like to do my 6 week externship in istanbul, turkiye in january 2010. i have been to turkiye twice and fell in love with the country and culture and foods! i am familiar with the language and some pronunciation s and words. i would like to take lessons once or twice weekly to help me learn over the next 3 months as much as possible!

I have been living with a Turkish boyfriend in Istanbul for the last 2 years. We are living in San Francisco. But, we will be going back to Turkey at some point. I didn't learn very much Turkish while I was there and am still a beginner. I think this is in part because I am now 51 and languages are more difficult for me now, even though I learned French and Italian when I was in my 20s, as well as a little German. So, new languages aren't foreign to me, and language theory is familiar to me. Nevertheless, Turkish has been a challenge, as it is not an Indo-European language. Anyway, I am intent upon learning Turkish and am, generally a good student and am amiable and easy to work with. I own my own home on Russian Hill, and we can meet there or at a cafe I or somewhere else - I don't care.
