I have had a long-term interest in improving my Vietnamese language skills but work, travel, family, and other priorities have left little time for meaningful or consistent study. A long time ago, I spent some time in Vietnam. Now that I am semi-retired, I would like to start a serious study program. I understand the basics and generally fit somewhere in the early intermediate stage but my skills are rusty and I have had a long gap since studying Vietnamese so some refresher basic training would be beneficial. My primary interest is in practical conversation and correct pronunciation as I have stronger reading-compr ehension skills. I am thinking that 3-4 hours of personal instruction a week would be helpful in supplementing my personal self-study program. I am seeking a mature teacher, middle aged or older, with good communication s skills, patience, a sense of humor, and someone who was native-born and understands Vietnamese culture and customs. I would prefer to have someone with stronger Vietnamese language skills even if English language skills are somewhat lighter and less than perfect.

we are looking for a tutor for the kids - 4 1/2 and 1 1/2 years old. mother is vietnamese but mainly raised in US and speaks to them in vietnamese as much as possible but looking for someone who is 100% fluent (mom is understands much better than can speak). also looking to teach the kids how to read/write in vietnamese. looking for weekend tutoring sessions in person.
