Teaching Approach

Making students feel comfortable and empowering their use of the new language are the most important components of my teaching style. I use a lot of encouragement and positive reinforcement , and try to get students to speak even if they are unsure of themselves. The best way to do this is through games and targeting their interests. Repetition is also a key component of my teaching approach, as well as peer and group learning.

I am currently teaching ESL to primary and secondary school children just outside of Medellin, Colombia. Naturally their L1 is Spanish. Most of my lessons are highly creative and engaging. I make use of TPR frequently, as well as songs, chants, group work, and artistic projects.

Teaching Experience
|
|
|
- Environmental educator, 1+ year. As an environmental educator on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I taught an ecology/conse rvation curriculum to students in 3rd through 9th grade.
- English language teacher. Currently, I am an ESL teacher in Medellin, Colombia, working in classrooms with a native Colombian teacher to increase English language proficiency in primary and secondary school students.

What is your teaching schedule?
I am available from 2pm to 7pm UTC every weekday, and from 8am UTC onwards on Saturday and Sunday.

I really take the time to get to know my students and make my classes fun, engaging, and tailored specifically to you.
