Graduating with a joint degree in Spanish and Teaching English as a Foreign Language, has provided me with an understanding of the different psychological approaches to teaching. Being attentive to specific learning difficulties, and how students process information reinforced the desire to empower individuals to improve their language skills.
I became active in learning more about SLA (Second language acquisition), and the issues students faced when attempting to learn a language that was drastically different from their mother-tongue . I spent the majority of the time developing different materials and activities that would encourage learning in and outside the classroom. I strongly believe patience and consistency are important factors to consider when trying to teach English as a foreign language. The ability to provide genuine and caring support for students of all ages and different cultural backgrounds is very rewarding.

Hi there,
I am a qualified, experienced, and approachable EFL teacher with a strong academic and teaching background. I possess great communication skills and have the ability to understand student’s needs and requirements. I also love organising and planning lessons that foster creativity and student’s critical skills that lead to improved performance and communicative competence. I have taught English as a foreign language to beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
My time as an EFL teacher has developed my philosophy of valuing each student as an individual, as well as part of a community. I aim to give students as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. An appropriate, balanced, challenging and creative lesson plan is essential in developing student’s skills, knowledge and understanding . These all underpin personalised learning.
As I am preparing to teach in Asia, I would welcome the opportunity to teach students from China, Korea, and Japan.
