First of all, I would do an interview my client in order to learn what he/she needs and purposes in learning Indonesian or English. I am applying interactive teaching approach, role play, and teaching the essential grammar in order to establish a knowledge of English/Indon esian structure so that the learners get a clear picture how to communicate in English/Indon esian appropriately . Moreover, I also include knowledge of culture in teaching Indonesian language to provide the learners good understanding how to mingle with Indonesian community and stakeholders. The first lesson is for assessing the student’s requirements and needs. I use the Common European Framework and other standards, such as those related to tests, e.g., IELTS tests. For the remainder of the lessons, we work towards goals agreed in the initial session and other learning goals may be added as we continually work and assess the results. We will concentrate on learning in the main areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing, in particular, those most needed by the student. However, there is always have a core element of speaking and listening involved in lessons because that is how language is first learnt. The teaching method depends on the learning goals and objectives of my students-acad emic exams, interview, honing up conversation skills, improving writing skills, etc. But most often my students need to acquire an accurate conversation fluency, thus I resort to communicative method, which has proved to be the most efficient way of teaching a foreign language.
