VERBS AND ADVERBS(PANDIWA AT PANG-ABAY)

ADJECTIVES(pang-uri in tagalog)
Describe or modify nouns and pronouns
which one- other book (ibang aklat), any food (kahit anong pagkain)
what kind- big coconut (malaking buko), blue shirt (asul na damit)
how many- both girls (parehong babae), fifty centavos(limampung sentimo), several problems
hum much- more sign, enough hard work

ex. Follow that car!....which car? That one
that doesn’t replace the noun, it describes one.
in the above sentences, you will notice there are many __ng's,na's connected to the words. I call them connectives. They connect words to be grammatically correct.
EX. BIG COCONUT
BIG=malaki ,coconut=buko..but not malaki buko.iT should be malaking coconut.
tagalog has lots of NA,___NG AND +G. WE CALL THEM PANG-ANGKOP. I CALL THEM CONNECTIVES

Pang-angkop NA, ___ +G, ___ +NG
(in noun and adjective)
>If the adjective or the noun ends with vowel except for letter n, put NA in between the adjective and the noun
Ex. Blue car- asul na kotse
>If the adjective or the noun ends with consonant, connect NG to the first word you use (either the adjective or the noun)
Ex. Red car- pulang kotse
>If the adjective or the noun ends with N, connect G to the first word you use (either the adjective or the noun)
EX. Sea food- pagkaing dagat
(pagkain =food)
REMEMBER THIS:
In tagalog, you can interchange the words as long as PANG-ANGKOP is on its proper position. Interchanging is also applicable to verb and adverb and many more.

Ex. Blue car- asul na kotse or kotseng asul
Broken toy- laruang sira or sirang laruan (laruan=toy)
Beautiful girl- magandang babae or babaeng maganda
ugly girl - Pangit na babae or babaeng pangit
Red car- pulang kotse or kotseng pula

HOW MANY (it is improper to interchange the two words)
Five pesos= limang piso
Four pesos= apat na piso
One million- isang milyon

WHAT KIND
Blue sky- asul na ulap
Red shoes- pulang sapatos
Small box- maliit na kahon

HOW MUCH
Many reasons- maraming dahilan
Very busy- sobrang abala

ADVERB(PANG-ABAY)
Describe or modify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. It tells when, where, how, under what condition and to what degree.


WHERE: SAAN
stand here -- tumayo dito
Jump under – tumalon sa ilalim

WHEN: KAILAN
Pray always- magdasal palagi or palaging magdasal
Come early- dumating ng maaga or maagang dumating

IN WHAT MANNER: PAANO
Sings loudly- malakas na kumanta or kumanta ng malakas
Quietly listened-tahimik na nakinig or nakinig ng tahimik
Runs fast- tumakbong mabilis or mabilis na tumakbo
