Simple Present - To be verb (+/- Answers)
In English, the to be verb can be conjugated into three forms: affirmative form, negative form, question (and +/- answers) form.
Question form 1. Am I? 2. Are you? 3. Is he? 4. Is she? 5. Is it? 6. Are we? 7. Are you? 8. Are they?
+ Answers 1. Yes, you are. 2. Yes, I am. 3. Yes, he is. 4. Yes, she is. 5. Yes, it is. 6. Yes, you are. 7. Yes, we are. 8. Yes, they are.
1. No, you are not. 2. No, I am not. 3. No, he is not. 4. No, she is not. 5. No, it is not. 6. No, you are not. 7. No, we are not. 8. No, they are not.
- Answers (contraction form) No, you're not. No, I'm not. No, he's not. No, she's not. No, it's not. No, you're not. No, we're not. No, they're not. For example:
Are you Pablo Neruda? No, I'm not.
Is Messi number 9? No, he isn't.
Is she Dua Lipa? No, she isn't.
Is he prince Harry? Yes, he is.
Is it a rubber? Yes, it is.
Are they giraffes? Yes, they are.
Are the people happy? Yes, they are.
