I am definitely a beginner. I have been to Thailand for three extended trips, interning and doing research in Mae Sot on the Thai-Burmese border. Currently, I am applying for a Fulbright scholarship to study the connection between migration and development at Chiang Mai University. Thus, while previously I have formally studied Burmese instead of Thai - since more people in Mae Sot speak Burmese - I really think it is time for me to commit to consistent Thai language classes. I want to learn conversation, but I also want to learn the basics of grammer and reading. I am looking for a series of about 8 classes, once per week. I hope the lessons will be rigorous enough that I will have a good grasp of the language. I live in Morningside Heights at 114th and Broadway.

My level would be beginners, and I've always been interested in learning arabic, I dont know anything about the language so I would need improvement right from the beginning. I'm probably somewhere between beginner and intermediate. I'm here in Toulouse for nine more months and I'd like to learn French as rapidly as possible. I'm mostly interested in gaining proficiency in speaking. I can read magazines and newspapers reasonably well. (Le Monde gets a big difficult for me, but with a dictionary, I can manage it.) Literature is more difficult. But, as I said, for the immediate future, it is conversation that I need more than anything -- in order to make the most of my time here, to make some friends, etc. I can do more written study when I get back to the States!
