Why you are learning your foreign language?:
As an American-born filipino, it has always been a personal goal to learn my culture's native language. Learning Tagalog is mostly for recreational use for conversations and writing letters with my family.
Yo ur proficiency level:
I am a beginner with knowledge of some common vocabulary. Also, by attempting to teach myself through the internet, I have knowledge of sentence structure (verb focus, case markers for nouns).
Th e areas in which you feel you need particular improvement:
I would want to focus on conversationa l aspects the most. However, proper grammar and writing practice will be greatly appreciated.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons?:
I want to spend 2-4 hours per week with a teacher. Based on my work schedule and the teacher's lessons, I plan on using an additional 2-4 hours of my personal time per week.
What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher?:
I have always enjoyed language classes because it seemed as if my teachers were having more fun than me. Therefore, a teacher who is more concerned about sharing language because of their passion for culture would be ideal. Also, I would like to meet a person who is an encouraging, kind, and motivated teacher who can adapt to my learning style.
I would prefer a local teacher, but am still very interested in online lessons. I am available for lessons any time after 7pm PST on weekdays. I also prefer Mondays/Wedne sdays/Fridays, but I am willing to be flexible.

Hello, I would like to know if you are still available to teach Tagalog? I have studied on my own off and on for several years and live with a native speaker who does not have patience to teach me. I can speak very basic Tagalog and can read or understand more. I would like to become more fluent and be able to converse in everyday situations. How does this online or email learning work? My wish is to learn Tagalog so that I may be able to communicate with native speakers in the Philippines. My daughter is one-half Filipino; I would like to encourage her to learn as much about the culture and peoples of the Philippines as possible so that one day we may visit this country and be comfortable in our ability to communicate. I am a beginner and have been studying some Tagalog on the Internet. I will dedicate as much time as possible in learning the language, as it is my wish to also teach my daughter to speak Tagalog. I believe it is best to begin teaching her Tagalog now, so it is easier for her to learn. I need a teacher who can be patient with me as I learn, someone who is interested in helping my daughter and me understand the Tagalog language, as well as the culture and attitudes of native Filipinos. I greatly appreciate any response to my request!

I am continuing my study of Tagalog after living in the Philippines from 2003-2005. I intend on advancing my understanding to pass a University exam and for a job as a court translator. I have good conversation skills but need a fuller understanding of advanced grammar (I say things the way they sound best from learning through conversation, I don't really understand the grammar rules behind them). I am willing to spend 2-4 hours a week on lessons.
